General guidance — your doctor will give the instructions that suit your case.
Preparing for your laser session
Shave with a razor:
Shave the area with a razor the day before your session.
No waxing, halawa or plucking:
Avoid waxing, halawa (sugaring) or plucking for 4 weeks.
Avoid tanning and heavy sun:
Avoid tanning and heavy sun exposure.
Tell the doctor about medicines and allergies:
Tell the doctor about any medicines and any irritation, wound or allergy in the area — and never stop a medicine without the doctor's advice.
Aftercare following your laser session
Recommended moisturiser:
Use the moisturiser the doctor recommends.
Avoid sun and heat for 24–48 hours:
Avoid sun and very hot water for 24–48 hours.
Cool compresses if needed:
Use cool compresses for mild redness or warmth, unless the doctor says otherwise.
What to expect from laser sessions
Approximate number of sessions:
Usually 6–12 sessions; the number varies by area, skin, hair, hormones and regularity.
Reduced hair growth:
Laser greatly reduces hair growth, but it does not guarantee the hair never returns.
How the skin may react:
Mild, temporary redness or swelling around the follicles can happen.
Skin procedures
Medical and cold peels:
The type and strength of the peel are chosen by the doctor; temporary redness, dryness or peeling is possible. Use moisturiser and sunscreen, and do not pick the skin.
Fractional laser for scars:
Fractional laser may help some scars, acne marks and skin texture; results are gradual and some cases need more than one session.
Mesotherapy and skin boosters:
Performed by a qualified doctor after assessing your skin; there is no promise of a specific whitening percentage.
